Support the Performing Arts Series and kick off the season at the Patron’s Preview Party, 6 p.m. on August 25. Enjoy light refreshments and get an exclusive sneak peak into the 2016-2017 Performing Arts Series.

Patron support is important to bring the finest performances to the area. The ASUMH Performing Arts Series offers benefits and privileges to enhance enjoyment of the performances.  Patrons may purchase tickets first according to giving level, as scheduled:  Presenting Sponsor – June 1; Producer Patrons – June 15; Director Patrons – June 29; Assistant Director Patrons – July 13; Actor Patrons – July 20; Cameo Patrons – July 27; Friend Patrons – August 3; Fan Patrons – August 10.

Season ticket packages will go on sale to the general public August 17.  Season tickets include the following six shows for $130, plus $19.70 fees.  That’s a savings of $20 on tickets, if purchased separately.  Season ticket packages are half price for ASUMH students and ages 18 and younger.  All iTickets / processing fees apply. Individual show ticket sales begin August 29.

Music City Hit-Makers – Where Song Meets Symphony

Music City Hit-Makers is "classin' up country" with a one-of-a-kind musical event featuring Nashville's hottest songwriters and a 14-piece symphony. In this Bluebird Cafe-esque style writer's round, three of Nashville's elite songwriters perform and share the stories behind some of the biggest hits they've penned for today's most iconic stars set to the sounds of a symphony. With more than 30 #1 hits, these GRAMMY® winning writers have had songs recorded by Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Lady Antebellum, Kelly Clarkson, and many more. Music City Hit-Makers features symphonic scores by Charles Judge, arranger and conductor for Carrie Underwood’s triumphant performances with the Hollywood Bowl & Ravinia Festival Orchestras and Blake Shelton’s Not-So-Family Christmas Special aired on NBC.  These are the most famous people you never heard of!

Haley Cultural Arts Endowment presents O Sole Trio – From Pavarotti to Pop

O Sole Trio is a vibrant classical crossover ensemble featuring the lush voices of soprano Erin Shields and baritone Giuseppe Spoletini, as well as the versatile and virtuosic David Shenton on piano and violin.  O Sole Trio’s shows are both touching and humorous, breathing new life into familiar favorites with their unique and innovative arrangements. With a decidedly Italian flavor, From Pavarotti to Pop features a program of beloved Italian opera arias, Neapolitan songs as well as jazz and pop standards made popular by such singers as Louis Prima, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Connie Francis and Andrea Bocelli. O Sole Trio has performed sold-out concerts at major venues in the United States, Canada, and the UK including Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

As one of the most highly acclaimed performers of our time with five Grammy® awards, four Billboard Music Awards, three platinum records, five gold records, and eleven million units sold, Sandi Patty is simply known as The Voice.
Sandi is the most awarded female vocalist in contemporary Christian music history, with 40 Dove Awards. She was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2004 and as an Indiana Living Legend in 2007. She has released over 30 albums, including her latest Dove Award-winning album, The Edge of the Divine (2010). Her debut full length symphonic pops album Broadway Stories, conducted by Maestro Jack Everly, was released on October 18, 2011.

Sandi was introduced to the world with her rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" during the rededication of the Statue of Liberty in 1986. Virtually overnight she became one of the country’s best-loved performers. Her version of the national anthem has become synonymous with patriotic celebration, including performances at “A Capitol Fourth” with the National Symphony, the Indianapolis 500, the Dedication of Camp David Chapel, and "ABC’s Fourth of July Special."

While her thirty-year career is heavily rooted in the gospel music industry, Sandi has had the opportunity in more recent years to extend her career outside the genre. Sandi has performed with symphonies across the country, including the New York Pops, Boston Pops, Cincinnati Pops, Dallas Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Houston Symphony, and Oklahoma City Philharmonic.
In addition to her prolific musical career, Sandi is also an accomplished author. For the bestseller Broken on the Back Row, Sandi received the 2006 Silver Angel Award. Her other titles include Life in the Blender, Falling Forward, Layers, and her latest book, The Edge of the Divine.

From the Newbery Award-winning book by Lois Lowry, this modern classic explores the risks and rewards of a full life. In a “utopian” future of sameness, young Jonas inherits an unusual career: to receive and keep the memories of his community’s past. Throughout lessons with his elder predecessor, The Giver teaches Jonas of love, war, and all of life’s unknown joys and pains. As his oppressive world continues unchanged, Jonas must decide whether to keep these secrets or upend his community.  In their 68th season, the National Players return to Mountain Home following their 2014-2015 season-favorite performance of To Kill a Mockingbird.

Cinderella
Russian National Ballet Theatre

Direct from Moscow, Russia, the Russian National Ballet Theatre will present Cinderella, a full-length ballet in two acts.  The Russian National Ballet Theatre was founded in Moscow during the transitional period of Perestroika in the late 1980s, when many of the great dancers and choreographers of the Soviet Union's ballet institutions were exercising their new-found creative freedom by starting new, vibrant companies dedicated not only to the timeless tradition of classical Russian Ballet but to invigorate this tradition as the Russians began to accept new developments in the dance from around the world.The company, then titled the Soviet National Ballet, was founded by and incorporated graduates from the great Russian choreographic schools of Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Perm.  The principal dancers of the company came from the upper ranks of the great ballet companies and academies of Russia, and the companies of Riga, Kiev, and even Warsaw.  Today, the Russian National Ballet Theatre is its own institution, with over 50 dancers of singular instruction and vast experience, many of whom have been with the company since its inception. In addition to their extensive tour history, beginning in January 2017 the company will embark upon a 4-month coast-to-coast tour of the United States, including a stop at ASUMH.
